Cremation Urns

Why are funeral caskets so expensive & cremation urns so cheap?

Why does a family have to put in more money just to bury someone in the cemetery, and why does a family have to put in less money just to have someone cremated.

I wanna be buried and I wanna have a very expensive fancy funeral.

someone pays for ya to enter this world and someone pays upon your exit, if you're cremated for burial, do not add the $800 it costs to "rent" a casket for viewing, talk about extortion huh??? why do you care about an extravagant funeral, you

Mom proudly displays Dad
Mom proudly displays Dad in this urn in her assisted living apartment. After keeping Dad in a cardboard cylinder in the garage on the workbench near his tools, where he was most at home for a couple of years, Mom had to move to an assisted living facility. Since she talks to him every day, we had to prepare Dad for the move. He wasn't too happy about it, and he was pretty upset that we spent so much money for his new home, especially since the old one was free from the crematorium. He also wasn't too happy about being stuck in the same room with Mom all the time, because now he'd have to listen to her talking all day. When I told him the urn was pretty soundproof, he said ok. So I poured him in. He just fit, but I spilled a little of him on the workbench. He was ok with that. I guess we'll get the matching one for Mom when the time comes. Dad said to wait for a good sale, and be sure there's enough room for a phone so she won't nag him all day...
Beautiful Urn
The urn was more then I expected. It is beautiful and looks lovely in my home. I purchased it for my father whom I was very close to. It is so comforting to have him near me everyday.
Great urn
I used this daily. I keep my brown sugar in it. So when people come over, they say "Whoa dude who's in the urn!?" and I say "It's my Uncle Albert - he tastes pretty sweet!" and I immediately open it and scoop out a spoonful of "ashes" and eat it! Immediately someone screeches or faints or pukes. It's loads of fun! Works on strangers, mailmen, ugly neighbors, just about anyone with a sense of humor, or lack thereof! Try it today! PS: Use brown sugar and not actual ashes.

Government pushes for green burials

The interior ministry is calling on the public to use more environmentally-friendly ways to inter deceased family members.

The ministry said on Monday that Taiwan's cremation rate is the second highest in the world after Japan. The rate has risen to more than 90 percent since 1993.

Many people still prefer to put cremation urns in a columbarium, or a vault with spaces for urns. Now the government is suggesting more environmentally-friendly burials, such as burials at sea or beneath trees. Interior ministry official Huang li-hsin spoke on Monday about the benefits of an eco-friendly burial.

"Ashes, if scattered beneath a tree or flowers, can help nurture the soil," said Huang. "And burials at sea are able to help undersea species. It's generous to do so as it shows your love of the earth and your willingness to save limited resources for the next generation."

The ministry said that more than 4600 people in Taiwan have already been buried
